This course fulfills the HHSC Medication Aide Program's yearly renewal licensing requirements for Certified Medication Aides. Students are required to attend the 7-hour CEU Renewal class once a year and every year to keep their license in active status. For all other inquiries regarding licenses, please contact the Medication Aide Program at medication_aide_program@hhs.texas.gov for further information. Due to state regulations, there is absolutely no admission to class after 9 A.M. Please bring a writing utensil, notebook paper, your active CMA license, and a state-issued picture ID to class. Please note that this program now meets on the last Monday of each month unless it falls on a holiday. MCC will not provide tuition refunds based on the student's inability to renew their license.

Learn to accurately & safely administer medications to health care facility residents. Following successful course completion & the required written state testing, graduates are listed on a central roster with the State of Texas Regulatory Services as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA). Strict admission criteria includes: ability to read, write, & speak English; 18 years of age or older; free of communicable diseases & in suitable health to safely administer medications; original copy or notarized photocopy of a high school diploma or GED; and finally either be a registered Texas CNA in active status while employed in a licensed Medicaid facility or be a non-licensed person employed in a long-term or assisted living facility with at least 90 days of patient care experience within the last year prior to the class. Once you have started training, you will be required to do a fingerprint background check and A $25.00 state licensing application.
