Learn to accurately & safely administer medications to health care facility residents. Following successful course completion & the required written state testing, graduates are listed on a central roster with the State of Texas Regulatory Services as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA). Strict admission criteria includes: ability to read, write, & speak English; 18 years of age or older; free of communicable diseases & in suitable health to safely administer medications; original copy or notarized photocopy of a high school diploma or GED; and finally either be a registered Texas CNA in good standing while employed in a licensed Medicaid facility or be a non-licensed person employed in a long-term or immediate direct patient care center with at least 90 days of patient care experience within the last year prior to the class. Once you have started training, you will need to email medication_aide_program@hhs.texas.gov to request the IdentoGo service code for background check fingerprinting to have it processed for your state license application.
