Cooking Well with Diabetes is designed to help not only the person with diabetes, but also anyone who prepares food for those with diabetes. Possible participants may be found among people who have completed Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes, Wisdom Power, Control, Si Yo Puedo, or the Diabetes Education Program by Texas A&M Health. Other local diabetes self- management education programs, diabetes support groups, or healthcare provider referrals can also be used as sources of potential participants or opportunities to encourage participants to follow up with further diabetes education.

We are excited to introduce a new class with instructor Jocelynn O'steen. In this class, students will learn how to make soft and delicious pretzels from scratch and a homemade cheese cause to pair with it. Each student will get to create a batch of pretzels to take home. Refunds are not available due to food costs.

Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes is an educational program to help people with type 2 diabetes learn the skills they need to understand and manage their diabetes, to reduce their risks for complications and to attain their highest possible level of wellness. This program will help people control their diabetes rath than letting the disease control them. the classes are not meant to substitute for care by a physician. This class is meant to promote daily self-management and teach participants to live a healthier lifestyle.

Cooking Well with Friends offers active families a practical program to show mealtime decision makers how to safely and effectively prepare meals to freeze and keep on hand. Cooking Well with Friends is a hands-on workshop that teaches how to safely and effectively plan, prepare, freeze, and cook healthy meals. Core concepts of the program include USDA MyPlate guidelines, basic food safety principles such as temperature requirements. After the program participants will be able to confidently prepare, thaw, and cook freezer meals. Participants will also be able to apply food safety techniques to prevent foodborne illness and plan/prepare cost-effective meals and minimize food waste. They will also be able to modify recipes to have less saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars.

The material will help prepare you for the National Certified Food Manager Exam. Cost includes classroom instruction, materials, and exam. Please call Texas A&M AgriLife Extension McLennan County at 254-757-5180 to pay for the course. Check or money order may be brought to class. Must bring valid ID. If you do not have an acceptable form of ID, you will not be able to take the exam. This class will meet at Texas A&M AgriLife's facility, 4224 Cobbs Dr.

This is a one-day workshop for all of those interested in making their holiday baked goods a little bit healthier. This workshop will go over the different methods and ingredients used in baking to make those famous holiday dishes just a little healthier in time for the holidays. At the end of this course participants will be able to bake different dishes, including desserts using sugar alternatives like non-caloric sweeteners and sugar alcohols. This course will also teach participants what ingredients they can substitute to make their baked good a healthier option.

Si Yo Puedo Control Mi Diabetes es un programa educativo y culturalmente relevante sobre el mantenimiento y prevención de la diabetes. Este programa esta específicamente dirigido a hispanos/latinos que fueron diagnosticados o conocen alguien k fue diagnosticado con la Diabetes tipo 2. Este programa tiene cuatro lecciones semanales de dos horas cada lección. Este programa es basado en un currículo experiencial en el empoderamiento. Las clases brindan una experiencia práctica en educación sobre esta enfermedad crónica. Estas clases son con facilitado por el mismo equipo durante la duración del programa. Impartido por profesionales de salud como enfermeras(os) o educador en diabetes certificado o una dietista registrada(o). Actividades de este programa incluye novelas, actividades de clasificación de alimentos y establecimiento de objetivos
