Are you interested in agility training for your dog, but need some foundations first? Pre-Agility Training is for you! This class, in partnership with Waco Agility Group (WAG), will provide the basics of agility, such as obedience, ground work, socialization, and low level introduction to agility equipment. Dogs should be able to be around other dogs without reacting in a negative manner, and be comfortable on a leash. Aggressive dogs will be asked to leave. The class will meet at Brazos Valley Boarding, 5327 Old Lorena Rd.


Please note classes are subject to the weather and may have to be rescheduled at times. There will be no class on 03/06 Dogs must be at least 11 months old. This course is a pre-requisite for the course: Beginner Agility for Dogs

This beginning course, offered by local canine experts K9mutt Training, teaches the basics of obedience training and helps you better understand your dog. No two family dynamics are the same, so you'll learn the best training methods for you and your dog. This course is for family dogs, shelter and rescue dogs, and special-needs families. You must provide instructor Sandy Wittliff with current shot records at the first class. The class will meet at MCC's Highlander Ranch.

Vaccines must include Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, and Rabies. After initial puppy vaccinations, the canine will receive boosters every three years. The class will meet at MCC's Highlander Ranch located at 223A Cobbs Lane Waco, TX 76708. Drive through the ranch and make a slight yield to the right. Follow the signs to the Veterinarian Tech building. The speed limit at the ranch is 15 MPH. Be courteous of those walking their horses and others on the path.

Teresa Clayton, a local independent and expert gardener, will teach you the fundamentals of gardening in this two-day workshop. She will educate you on how to prepare an area so that you may create your garden, review the seedling process, and how to care for your garden in our high-heat environment. If available space is restricted, students will have the opportunity to learn about organic and container gardening. The class will meet at the Highlander Education Garden at the Highlander Ranch, 223A Cobbs Ln. A supply list will be provided upon registration.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to sail, now is your chance! Join Beginner Sailing in partnership with the Baylor Outdoor Adventure Department and the Baylor Family Marina! You will learn how to sail using a Sunfish sailboat on the Brazos River. The course will cover basic sailing knots, rigging of a boat, and operating a boat relative to the prevailing wind. The class will meet at the Baylor Family Marina, 1512 University Parks Dr. There will be no class on June 19th.

The Community Composter Certification Course is an advanced compost education and outreach program designed to train residents of McLennan County in composting to create a network of compost educators and advocates in our community. Led by Emily Hills, Director of Urban REAP, the course will cover soil and decomposition, composting science, composting systems and tools, and composting within the community, as well as 1-2 field trips to local composting sites. In addition, you will be expected to complete 25 hours of composting-related volunteer hours in the community and create an independent project that helps to share composting with others. Certificates will be awarded to those who complete the duration of the course and its requirements.

Participants are allowed one absence and therefore can register up until March 23rd.
